Milton Community Rallies Together to Make it Through Social Distancing

Our Town of Milton never ceases to amaze me. In a time of social distancing due to COVID-19, our town has come together like never before. From offering local support, helping businesses that are in danger of shutting down or just posting when stores have items in need, our community will help each other get through this difficult time.

Here are some great ways that our community is coming together.

Community members are purchasing gift cards from local businesses for later use to help them get through the upcoming and current shutdowns.

Grocery stores and pharmacies have started putting limits on essential supplies to manage hoarding. The following stores are also offering the first hour of opening to be dedicated to seniors and at risk customers to shop so the store will be less crowded and disinfected after deep cleans.

  • Real Canadian Superstore
  • Shoppers Drug Mart
  • Longo's
  • Sobey's
  • La Rose Bakery and will also offer their seniors day discount every day of the week until further notice

Restaurants are offering curb side pick up and/or home delivery so you don't have to miss out on some of your fave menu items.

  • MAKE Cafe and Catering is offering home delivery of their homemade soups and their coffee beans.
  • EddieO's Pourhouse and Kitchen will offer their full menu for delivery or pickup.
  • Shoeless Joe's will be offering delivery and take out options.
  • La Rose Bakery is working on curbside pick up, delivery service and 3rd party ordering via online systems and apps.
  • Paramount Fine Foods will solely offer curbside takeout and delivery. They are also happy to prepare a free meal for anyone who is experiencing food insecurities during this current crisis.

With all gyms being closed a number of them are offering free online workouts so you can stay in shape while be self isolated.

Snapology Halton is offering instructor facilitated lego playdates and lego building challenges each day with prizes to be won.

If you want to help others in your community, a facebook page has been created so you can find people in need. The group Milton Covid Assistance was created for those in self isolation and are unable to go out to grab the items their families are in need of.
